Jennifer Lopez has shared more photos and details about her and Ben Affleck’s intimate wedding. The artist, who recently slammed leaked video footage from her special day, published them on her On the JLo newsletter. She opened up about their children, how she surprised Affleck, and what went on the rest of the weekend. Check out the photos and what she had to say below.
The Rehearsal Dinner
The Marry Me star said the night before the wedding they laughed about getting married again at their age. “We had both been married before, and we aren’t exactly kids anymore but somehow now seemed like the only age that made sense,” she wrote. “Being able to love someone so that you want to be better for them and make them happy, because giving happiness and love becomes more joyful than receiving it, is true sublime adult love.”
Nerves before the wedding
JLo admitted to ‘love bugs’ ahead of the wedding. It was raining every day that week, with thunder and lighting arriving “almost on cue” at the exact time the ceremony was supposed to start on Saturday. “Oh, and all of us caught a stomach bug and were recuperating ‘til late in the week,” she said. “Along with a few other unexpected setbacks, had all the makings of a doozie of a wedding weekend.” But she said she never had one doubt.
When the day came at 6:45 pm, “the sun broke free and cast its rays like little diamonds dancing across the river behind the makeshift altar in our backyard.” “I started my walk down the stairs that would become the aisle that would lead me toward the rest of my life,” the 53-year-old continued.

Ben’s surprise
Lopez explained how, “in this very house more than twenty years ago” she and Ben talked about how Marc Cohn’s ‘True Companion’ was the perfect wedding love song.
She surprised Ben and asked Cohn to surprise him by singing it at their wedding as she walked down the aisle. However, the first song he played wasn’t ‘True Companion’ it was ‘The Things We’ve Handed Down. “A song about the wonderful mystery of children,” JLo wrote. “it was the perfect choice as our five children preceded me on the walk.”
“We weren’t only marrying one another; we were marrying these children into a new family. They were the only people we asked to stand up for us at our wedding party. To our great honor and joy, each one did.”
Her Favorite Line
JLo said her favorite line that Affleck has written is, “This is heaven. Right Here. We’re in it now,” from his movie Live By Night. “He also said it the night of our wedding reception in his speech, and I thought...how perfect,” she wrote.

The next day: ‘That Morning After Glow’
The day after, they had brunch at the lake. She designed different details for each of the three days. “I wanted each day to have its own personality but fit the setting we were in for the weekend: the vibes were down-home, rustic country-chic.”

Lopez reflected at the end of her newsletter. “Years ago, we had no idea the road ahead would mean navigating so many labyrinths and hold so many surprises, blessings, and delights. It all culminated in this moment, one of the most perfect of our lives. We couldn’t have been happier.”
