Ivanka Trump mourns Shinzo Abe with a montage that includes her kids

She joined other political figures who mourned the death of the former Japanese Prime Minister.

Ivanka Trump mourned the death of Japan’s former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. Trump shared an Instagram post where she discussed some of Abe’s strengths and how much he’d influenced her career in politics.

Trump shared a set of photos alongside Abe, including one with her kids. In it, she holds her kids as she poses next to Abe. In another photo, she stands next to him and smiles at the camera.

“I am deeply saddened by the death of Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, a truly historic figure and leader of lasting consequence,” wrote Trump.

“Abe’s advice, wisdom and warmth had a profound impact on me during my government service. My heart is with his family and the Japanese people as the world mourns the passing of a great man,” she concluded.

Abe had good relationships with the Trump administration. Following his death, Donald Trump took to Instagram and said that his passing was terrible news for the world. “This is a tremendous blow to the wonderful people of Japan, who loved and admired him so much. We are all praying for Shinzo and his beautiful family!”

Other political figures like Barack Obama and Joe Biden shared their condolences and discussed some of Abe’s biggest strengths as a man and leader. “Former Prime Minister Abe was devoted to both the country he served and the extraordinary alliance between the United States and Japan. I will always remember the work we did to strengthen our alliance,” said Obama on his Instagram.

“Above all, he cared deeply about the Japanese people and dedicated his life to their service. Even at the moment he was attacked, he was engaged in the work of democracy,” said Biden in a statement.
