Kanye West is making headlines after Instagram banned him for 24-hours. West took to the social platform to share a racial slur aimed at Trevor Noah, violating hate speech, harassment, and bullying policies.
Following the news, the team at Affise took a trip down memory lane and revealed some of the other notable stars who have been temporarily banned from Instagram due to inappropriate online behavior.
It’s time to spill the tea…
Rihanna
There is a reason why our favorite mom-to-be has the username @badgalriri on the ‘gram. In 2014, the star posed topless for French magazine Lui and later posted an uncensored image from the risque shoot on her Instagram account. Instagram removed the photos due to violations of nudity policies and sent her a warning informing her they could permanently shut her account down.
Madonna
Pop sensation Madonna got Insta-banned after posting a message from the platform asking her to review its community guidelines — but it’s unclear what specific guidelines the star broke. However, some suspect she received the message due to posting a photo of her cleavage.
Rob Kardashian
Here’s an Instagram suspension that was fully warranted. Back in 2017, Rob Kardashian posted nude photos of his ex-fiancée Black Chyna. This chaotic move later got Rob banned from the entire platform. Following his return to Instagram in 2019, his new account is run by Jenner Communications, and Rob is not allowed to post any content himself.
Grace Coddington
We are introducing one of the most controversial Insta-bans of all time. Former Welsh model Grace Coddington posted a hand-drawn image of herself without any clothes on, enough for Instagram to give her the red card. However, the platform later reviewed its decision and apologized for its extreme reaction.
Scout Willis
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ daughter Scout made her way into the Instagram blocklist for posting a snap of a sweatshirt she designed. The catch? The design featured two topless women, and Willis argued that the platform’s decision to suspend her temporarily was sexist. Willis marched around Manhattan topless and tweeted the pictures with the caption “legal in NYC but not on Instagram.”
Anja Rubik
Instagram is notorious for banning images depicting female breasts, and now supermodel Anja Rubik knows. After posting a photo of herself in a sheer Anthony Vaccarello top, Instagram banned her.
