Wisin and Yomaira are awaiting the arrival of their fourth baby: ‘It is news that we are enjoying everyday because we still do not believe it.’

After experiencing a terrible loss in 2016, the couple exclusively revealed the details of this incredible news to HOLA! USA, as well as the sex and name of the next family member.

JUNE 20, 2021 8:19 AM EDT

Wisin and his wife, Yomaira Ortiz, are overjoyed that life has once again given them the opportunity to become parents for the fourth time. Five years ago, the couple experienced the loss of their baby, whom they named Victoria. The little girl died one month after she was born due to trisomy 13 syndrome. The couple learned of their daughter‘s congenital disease during the fifth month of pregnancy. Despite the fact that the doctors recommended termination of the pregnancy as an alternative, they did not consider that option and defended their right to have their baby.

“Unfortunately, a child and a loved one never overcome a test like that. It is always there, and neither does this child supplant or cover that pain in a way. No, it does not. They are different things but thank God we are living, after that storm, a beautiful moment. It was something we didn‘t ask for,” explains Juan Luis Morera Luna, which is the Puerto Rican singer’s given name.

Without hope and with no plans to try again, the successful singer and his wife did not count on the fact that fate had a pleasant surprise for them this 2021. In a sincere and exclusive talk for HOLA! USA, the producer and singer, along with the mother of his two children, Yelena, 12, and Dylan, 13, reveal that they are sweetly awaiting the arrival of their fourth baby.

Nearly five months into pregnancy, they are ready to shout to the world that this time the universe is smiling at them with a future male member of the family, who will be named Daniel.

The news is confirmed in this beautiful photo session that was held in their native Puerto Rico, the place where they have decided to establish their residence, in the company of their closest family and friends. Therefore, we celebrate Father‘s Day with this magnificent news.

Here are all the details of how both parents are living this new adventure, the reaction of their children and the preparations they have for the arrival of their prince this November.

“I love my baby, I love my children, my wife, they are a blessing for me. They have been keys to my maturity, so I am happy that this is a divine answer and that fills me. We are both healthy so we can enjoy this process.“

Congratulations guys! How did you find out about this great news?

Yomaira: We found out very early and I was barely four weeks pregnant, so it gave me dizziness and I said it couldn‘t be that and well, I asked a friend to secretly bring home a test, a test of these homemade and it came out yes. That’s when the world came to a standstill. We organize ourselves to see how to break the news to Juan Luis. *** Wisin: I didn‘t know it, nor did I imagine it. Yelena is 13 and Dylan is 12, so it’s been more than a decade since we forgot to change diapers, but wishing for a long time we could have a child and the most important thing is that he is healthy. We are happy, enjoying the process. I don’t think we deserve so many blessings. I am not speaking on a professional level, but on a personal level. Thank God Yomaira is pregnant and the most important thing is that everything is in order, everything is fine.

Yomaira, how long have you been pregnant?

Right now, 14 weeks.

What was your reaction when you found out that you were pregnant?

Yomaira: It was a moment of truth that I did not expect. Not long ago I had just handed over the situation to God and told him: “Look, I‘m not going to ask you to have babies or complain anymore.” With Victoria’s situation I was always going to miss her. So when I saw the positive, I dropped the test and stayed ... I called my sister, my friend was with me and I said: what is this, is it real? I wrote to my gynecologist who already told me: ”Congratulations!” He didn’t tell me to do a urine test, a blood test, or a checkup. I could not believe it.

How did you break the news to Wisin?

The plan was to call Luis but I didn‘t know how to tell him. I wanted it to be a surprise, to be special. Then, he saw that I was nervous and I closed the door of our room, trying to keep it together and surprise him. That day I called a couple of friends of mine and we went shopping to set up a surprise that was quick because we couldn’t take it anymore. We bought two or three things; a bottle, baby clothes and a friend of mine wrote him a note that said: “Hello, dad”and gave it to him in an awesome ceremony. He opened the box and didn’t even notice (laughs). He opened the box, looked at it and asked why he had so many baby things, and I ... The children had opened their boxes and they had already realized it and they were crying. He kept looking and until he said: “You’re pregnant!” and I said, ”yes!”

Wisin, did you notice anything?

No, because it never crossed my mind. There are so many daily things and well, I had already forgotten the possibility of my wife getting pregnant again, so it was something of a surprise. I couldn‘t believe it, but I’m really happy. It was a really cool experience and one that I’m still enjoying everyday because I can’t believe it. I really did not expect it.

According to the photos, we see that it will be a boy. Tell us about the revelation of the sex of the baby.

Wisin: Nobody knew anything. I thought that Yomaira knew and she thought that I knew. It was a cool moment. It was a moment of affirmation that it is a blessing from heaven and that it is real because really this type of event is done to find out the sex, but beyond that there are some blessings that go hand in hand that are inexplicable. I am very happy to be able to have the baby and that it is healthy; but even more so to see Yomaira enjoy the process in the right way, because what she has gone through is not easy.

After your experience with Victoria in 2016, are there any fears? How are you going about this process?

Yomaira: Well, yes. Obviously, the first thing one thinks is what if it happens to me again? What if the baby has something? I had to face the fact that my daughter is missing. That is good because I had incredible experiences with God and, of course, fear is real, it exists, and of course I felt fear, it is normal. Now I feel good and I have the certainty that God is in control and waiting for him. Living day by day. We already know that the baby is fine because I did the same test that I did with Victoria, a genetic test that we know that the baby is 100% healthy and that gave me a little peace.

Luis, how have you lived that same process?

God is so perfect that at this moment he sends our son. Everything is healthy because he knows that one way or another, we are ready. Unfortunately, a child and a loved one are never overcome with a test like that, it is always there, and neither does this child supplant or cover up that pain. No, it does not. They are different things; but, thank God we are living, after that storm, a beautiful moment. It was something we didn‘t ask for.

¿What was the reaction of your children?

Wisin: Dylan was happy and Yelena was happy too. Yelena is already a woman, in a good way. She is a 13-year-old girl but very mature, with a very mature mentality and I think it will be a very beautiful moment for her, to enjoy that process now with the maturity that she has with her mother, together with us. *** Yomaira: This was a response from God for them and they know that God responds, that when you truly pray with that faith, God responds. One of the nights that we did not know the sex of the baby, Dylan with much certainty and security that characterizes it said: “You know what? God answered my request, it‘s mine, so it’s going to be a boy and that’s it! Do not continue with the discussion of a girl or a boy, it is a boy, it is called that and God answered me!” He had the name before I knew it, before I was pregnant.

Can you share the name with us?

Yomaira: Sure, he is going to be called Daniel.

Why Daniel, for something in particular?

Yomaira: Daniel is a prophet of the Bible and he is a person who chose death rather than denying God, so among all what we were thinking, he [Dylan] likes the story of Daniel. ***Wisin: Daniel is cool, I like him and he likes it. I like that because it is going to be a boy and that is going to be his buddy. It will be another part of his gang, as I say, a child. Happy for Dylan too, because I think he is enjoying this process to the fullest.

¿How do you feel about parenting at this stage of your life?

Wisin: I think many of the mistakes I made as a father, perhaps due to immaturity, are nonsense. Maybe scolding your kids the wrong way, I don‘t know. Now I’m going to put that maturity into practice with my new baby. I already have another mentality. Now my mentality is more familiar, more personal. So I am happy. Another kid and most importantly, healthy and Yomaira is fine, Yelena is fine, Dylan is fine, so blessed.

Had you already given up hope of having another baby?

Yomaira: We were loving him but calmly. When God said.

What are the preparations you are making for Daniel‘s arrival?

Wisin: I have a house and I was going to move. I was about to move out already. Everyone who has houses or has built one knows that one does not stop spending and the work does not stop, and when I thought I had finished, Daniel appeared and now I have to make a new room because I did not have an extra one.

What message can you send to couples who have experienced a loss like yours or who are unable to have children?

Yomaira: As a woman, I can tell the others to wait calmly in God. If it is the case that she has not been able to have a baby, this is something that I know. I have many friends who have prayed with them because scientifically they could not have children and today I enjoy their children because God is real, he works miracles. ***Wisin: Each experience presents a lesson. There are life experiences that you don‘t want to happen, but when they happen and you look back you say wow! That was me because now I am someone else. We have more than we deserve, that’s the truth. I am still in my professional career, being here with the success that I have, is a gift because I have been in music for more than two decades and above that on a personal level God gives me the opportunity to be a father, do I deserve so much? No, it is divine approval, it is a gift.

Wisin, what has your family, your children, taught you?

I think the most important thing is tolerance. Yomaira has been able to tolerate who I am and tolerate my artistic career, which is very difficult. Here is Yelena, who is already 13 years old. There is Dylan, but there was a moment when I saw him. I came to my house and saw them physically different; but at that time I didn‘t give it that much importance because I was running so fast that for me it wasn’t the most important thing. I thank God for her [Yomaira] because she is a fundamental part. The invoices of my companies are paid by her. I do not have the invoices. Do you know why? There is no one else who takes care of my money and my belongings like that other than my wife. That’s for my kids, that’s for them, so we are a team. I think that working as a team has made me grow in every way and thank God for that.
