Fergie and her 6-year-old son attend protest and more stars fighting racial injustice

Fergie and her son Axl Jack joined a neighborhood protests for Black Lives Matter. The Glamourous singer shared a video of the demonstration, which was attended by more parents and their children with the caption “It starts at home #BLM.”

While Stevie Wonder’s Love’s in Need of Love Today played in the background, a montage of Fergie and her six-year-old son walking with signs in support of the movement played.

The 61-year-old superstar got into the groove and joined new friends Janaya Future Khan and Kendrick Sampson at a protest in L.A. The Papa Don’t Preach singer shared that Black Lives Matter L.A. has gathered in front of City Hall for a few years “to demand the resignation of D.A. Jackie Lacey and to grieve with mothers mourning the loss of their children to police brutality.”

On June 10, she stood alongside them and shared their messages on her Instagram. “I cried for two hours feeling the anguish of the mothers who spoke but at the same time I saw hope in the leaders of this generation,” she concluded.

The White House Down co-stars sat among George Floyd’s closest family and friends during his Houston memorial service, before he was brought to his final resting place alongside his mother.

BTS took a stand against racial injustice. The K-pop group, which is made of up V, Suga, RM, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook, and Jin, along with their music label Big Hit Entertainment announced that they would be donating $1 million to the Black Lives Matter campaign organization.

Shortly after the donation was confirmed, the group took to their official social media to stand in solidarity with the Black community. “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together. #BlackLivesMatter.”

The work didn’t stop with the Idol performers. In response, the BTS Army matched the $1 million donation within two days. The BTS fan-charity One In An ARMY started a campaign to fund the Black Lives Matter movement.

#MatchAMillion became trending on Twitter. On Sunday, June 7, it was revealed that the fan-led organization reached its goal. The additional $1 million will be donated to bailout funds for those who were arrested while protesting police violence, black-led organizations fighting against systemic injustice and support for the physical and mental health of the black community.

The Academy Award winning Ray actor took to social media to share pictures of himself and his daughter at a Black Lives Matter protest sharing that it was a “bittersweet” moment for him. In the caption of the carousel of moving photos, the actor said, “Passing it along. Having my kids with me at the protest was bittersweet. Having them watch the world come together was beautiful… But having to explain to them why we were all there was heartbreaking... let’s change the world so they don’t have to live in it the way we have been.”

The Black Panther star roused the crowd at the “Hollywood Talent Agencies” L.A. march for BLM, with a passionate speech. He touched on the need for diversity in the indsutry and the importance of amplfying Black voices.

“Anybody that deals with me, if you have racist beliefs, if you have a racist bone in your body, if you’re not with me, if you don’t stand with me and people that look like me, you don’t need to be with me,” he said. “I use my power to demand diversity but it’s time that studios and agencies… do so.”

Pink and her husband Carey Hart attended a local rally and her shirt stole the show, simply reading: “Nah. Rosa Parks, 1955.”

The singer and Game of Thrones star attended a peaceful protest with friends.

The rapper joined the protesters in the streets of Chicago after he announced his $2 million donation to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Kanye was also seen exchanging hugs with other protesters.

The couple took to the streets in Miami to show they stand in solidarity with the black community. Shawn held up a sign that read Black Lives Matter while the Havana singerwalked ahead of him waving her own poster.

Amara La Negra showed up for her black community in Miami and voiced her anger against racism with a personal message on her social media. “I am Dominican but first I am black,” mentioned the Dominican singer who has received backlash from her Dominican fans who ask her why is she protesting.

Isabela Merced joined over 1500 in a peaceful protest that her friends organized. “If you’re one of those all lives matter people, I encourage you to get off ya phones and get up on your feet. We will never understand so we must listen,” mentioned the Papi singer.

Viola Davis is making a stand against racial injustice and took to the streets inspiring messages alongside her costars, “My rage and pain, like many Black Americans is rooted in the depth of my soul. Too many years of being asked to numb it, has caused it to implode. But standing with these beautiful souls in protest and the reception of love and being seen was like a vaccine. We will no longer be silent when we are being erased. We will no longer work overtime to make you comfortable in the midst of microaggressions and hate.”

Harry Styles joined the Black Lives Matter movement in Los Angeles alongside his fans and other protesters. “I do things every day without fear, because I am privileged, and I am privileged every day because I am white. Being not racist is not enough, we must be anti-racist,” shared the singer on his social media.

Halsey has been protesting several times for the past week, but during a protest in Los Angeles, the New Jersey native assisted an injured demonstrator by giving him an ice pack. “It’s easy from the comfort of your home to watch looting and rioting on television and condone the violent measures being taken by forces. But what you don’t see is innocent peaceful protestors being shot at and tear-gassed and physically assaulted relentlessly,” mentioned the singer on her post.

Michael Jordan is donating $100 million in support of racial equality and the Black Lives Matter movement in the course of 10 years. In a statement, his manager Estee Portnoy announced, “Jordan Brand is more than one man. It has always been a family. We represent a proud family that has overcome obstacles, fought against discrimination in communities worldwide and that works every day to erase the stain of racism and the damage of injustice.”

Ireland Baldwin and her boyfriend Corey Harper passed out water and candy during a protest in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The 22-year-old model was in a truck and wearing a fabric face cover to protect herself from COVID-19.

Camila Coelho marched peacefully in West Hollywood and quoted, “It was Powerful, and so inspiring to see such a diverse crowd of thousands, together, using their voice to stand up against racism! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽 We will only see a change if we keep this conversation going forward, in our every day lives. If we keep listening to what the Black community has to say, if we take time to have, keep having uncomfortable conversations with those around us, especially friends and family. Let’s not take our foot off the gas.”

Earlier in the week, Jamie Foxx attended a peaceful protest in Minneapolis and quoted, “All I wanted to do today was let you know that I am not a celebrity, I am from Texas, these are my brothers, this means everything because at the end of the day when we see you guys in the frontline we wanna let you know you got support.”

Billie Eilish showed her support and took a knee down in Los Angeles alongside hundreds of protesters. The Grammy-award winner also shared her thoughts about white privilege, “Society gives you privilege just for being white. You can be poor, you can be struggling and still your skin color is giving you more privilege.”

Leonardo DiCaprio donated to charities and organizations working for equal rights including Color of Change, Fair Fight, NAACP, Equal Justice Initiative. “I commit to listen, learn, and take action. I am dedicated to end the disenfranchisement of Black America,” shared the actor.

Kevin Hart attended George Floyd’s memorial at North Central University in Minneapolis. The actor and comedian has been open about the brutal death of George on his social media and said, “Be apart of the solution....not the problem. Push the correct narrative. There is a reason that all of this is happening.” Tiffany Haddish, Tyrese Gibson, Master P, and T.I. were also in attendance.
