The tweet that launched a thousand replies...
Once upon a time, on Monday, March 23 to be exact, Chrissy Teigen tweeted this to her 12.5 million followers.
Lettuce celebrate
After Chrissy went back and forth with another fan, Youtuber Chris Klemens came to the rescue. The internet personality showed that he had three romaine heads ready to go in Studio City. But Chrissy needed proof...
“How do I know this isn’t an old pic of u an romaine, hold up something timely,” she replied.
Peeling good
Once Chris proved himself with a video, the deal was set! “Ok Chris. I trust you. Let me make this bread and I’ll be in your area tomorrow early afternoon!!” Chrissy replied.
Dun dun dun!!
“Here we go,” Chrissy tweeted back along with this snap. It looked like everything was ready to go... then, suddenly, John Legend got involved!
“Crap @ChrisKlemens I only have enough for one banana bread and john is not happy I’m trading it,” Chrissy wrote, changing plans. “Would you accept half a banana bread? please ... my family. Have mercy on us.”
“I will throw in a slice a pie,” she added a couple of minutes later.
“Am I... fighting with John Legend over banana bread??” Chris quipped. “Lmfao yes that is fine.” And just like that, a new deal had the green light.
Buttering up
Next, Chrissy made her banana bread, and it looked incredible. She lathered up a piece with butter for John and he seemed to be in heaven. “Remember: it’s not buttered unless you see it,” she joked.
The Exchange
Tuesday March 24: fans were on the edge of their quarantine couches. "The deal is about to go down," Chrissy said while riding over in her Range Rover. Both Legends made the trip, with their nanny driving them to the St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church parking lot.
Due to social distancing - duh - the duo had to get creative with the exchange. To keep things six feet a part they decided to use one of their kids’ toy cars as a dolly. They rolled over not only banana bread and pie, but a bottle of wine and chips and guacamole for Chris and his husband Andrew.
Pass it back
A deal’s a deal, so the Youtubers rolled back lettuce - "on ice!" as Chrissy put it.
The End
"It was so hard not to hug you both," Chrissy wrote along with this sweet snap of the foodie foursome. And for the record - Chris and Andrew had nothing but rave reviews for the bread, pie and wine.
