Empowering

Rihanna received a standing ovation for her powerful President’s Award acceptance speech at the glittering 51st NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena. The singer insisted the moment wasn’t about her (or her glamorous Givenchy gown for that matter), but instead something bigger. “If there’s anything that I’ve learned, we can only fix this world together. We can’t do it divided. I cannot emphasize that enough,” she said. “We cannot let the de-sensitivity seep in... We have been denied opportunities since the beginning of time, and still we prevail,” the star concluded. “Imagine what we could do together.”
