Shakira  and  Jennifer Lopez  are the chicas of the moment. After given a barrier-breaking and history-making performance at the Super Bowl LIV Pepsi Halftime performance on Sunday, February 2, the two Latina performers are all anyone can talk about. Colombia meets Argentina

Without a doubt, Antonio de la Rúa is one of Shakira’s most well-known former flames. The couple had been together for a decade — from 2000 to 2010! In August 2010, the Can't Remember to Forget You singer and the son of late Argentine president Fernando de la Rúa, decided to call it quits.

Where it all started

Shakira and the Argentine lawyer met at the beginning of the decade. He was working on his father’s electoral race, while was promoting her MTV Unplugged CD and prepping for her Anfibio Tour.

The end of an era

The couple was together for almost 11 years when both decided to end their romantic relationship, although they still maintained a professional one as Antonio was Shakira’s lawyer.

However in 2012 and 2013, both found themselves in a courtroom on opposing sides as Antonio was requiring compensation for all his years of work for the singer, claiming that he helped make her career. The court dismissed the case.

A sad goodbye

Although Shakira and her ex no longer communicate, the sing paid her respects in June 2019 when Fernando, Antonio’s father, passed away. Shakira shared a close relationship with the former politician.

She took to social media and shared an image of her, Fernando and Antonio, and communicated a very heartfelt message. “Fernando, you are gone forever, friend. Your children, your wife Inés, your grandchildren, your friends and I, will remember you with an immense sense of love for your humble and loving soul,” Shakira started.

She continued, “You have overcome many battles, many of them you didn’t deserve, which you fought them with admirable strength and dignity. Now rest and fly to a better place where there are no betrayals, no disappointments, go find peace and refuge with your parents, your brother and all those who loved you and truly knew you. I will always be your friend, in this life and the next. I love you friend, Shakira.”

A happy family

Piqué (as he is affectionately known by fans) and Shakira will have been together for 10 years in 2020. During those almost ten years, the two have welcomed their sons Milan, seven, and Sasha, five.

Father-of-two

Antonio and Daniela went on to have two children of their own, Zulu, six, and Mael, three. Unfortunately, the two went their separate ways and are co-parenting their children.

In September 2018, Daniela shared her last picture next to Antonio and the following year revealed that she was in a new relationship.
