Selena Gomez

In 2009, Selena Gomez started her musical career after starring in the successful Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place. Selena then ventured into singing with Selena Gomez & the Scene where they released their first studio album Kiss & Tell. With the band, the star released two more albums: A Year Without Rain (2010) and When the Sun Goes Down (2011). While Selena produced top hits with the band, she later went solo and released two other successful albums: Stars Dance (2013) and Revival (2015).

In 2011, she began a romantic relationship with Justin Bieber, which lasted more than 6 years and had all kinds of ups and downs.

A decade of changes

Ten years later, fans are witnessing the singer in her most mature facet. She recently released two single Lose you to Love me and Look at her now, which she performed at the 2019 American Music Awards. This presentation marked her return to the stage after staying away from the public eye for almost two years.

In 2017, the singer confessed that she had undergone a kidney transplant which was caused by her lupus affecting one of her organs. Amid the health problems she was going through, Selena entered a specialized center to be treated for a nervous breakdown.

Justin Bieber

In the summer of 2009, Justin released his first debut single One Time, which quickly positioned itself on the charts. Months later, his album My World dropped and since then he’s became one of the most influential singers in the world.

A break from the limelight

In 2016, Justin canceled all his shows from the Purpose World Tour. Taking time away from the stage, Justin focused on taking care of his physical and mental health. On a personal level, Justin - who had an intermittent relationship with Selena Gomez for 6 years - is now happily married to the model Hailey Baldwin. It seems that next year, the singer could return to the stage, as he made an announcement on his social networks that gave hope to his fans.

Miley Cyrus

In April 2009, fans saw Miley Cyrus on the big screen thanks to the Hannah Montana: The Movie. Sadly, with that project she said goodbye to the mythical character that led her to fame. In August of that year, Miley also drop the hit Party in the USA where fans got a glimpse of her more mature side.

A hectic year

Throughout her career, Miley has committed herself to different philanthropic causes and in 2015 she created Happy Hippie Foundation, an organization that aims to fight injustices and helps homeless youth and the LGBT community. Th singer re-entered Forbes annual list of the highest paid celebrities after four years absent. According to the publication, Miley made a profit $36 million dollars in 2019.

As for her personal life, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. In June 2009 she began dating the Australian heartthrob Liam Hemsworth. While in July 2012 they announced that they would marry, they later postponed their bond. In 2013, they decided to call it quits, but three years later they reconciled and in December 2018 they got married! But the love did not last long, in August 2019, they confirmed their final separation.

Ariana Grande

In 2009, Ariana Grande auditioned for the series Victorious on Nickelodeon. The young actress won the role and in March 2010 the show aired. After the success of the show, Ariana decided to focus on her musical career.

Single and Successful

In 2019, Ariana released the catchy theme 7 rings, which immediately became a success. According to Billboard, the song was on the top spot of the Hot 100 list for eight weeks. To date, Ariana has five albums: Yours Truly (2013), My Everything (2014), Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019).

As for her personal life, the songstress was about to marry comedian Pete Davidson, but in October 2018 they decided to break their engagement.

Taylor Swift

While Taylor is now known for her Pop hits, the singer actually began her career with country music in 2007. By 2009, she started her first tour in the United States and Canada.

During the MTV awards, she received the Best Female Video award for her single You Belong with Me. Just when she went to receive her award, Taylor was interrupted with singer Kanye West, who said that Beyoncé deserved the prize. How can anyone forget that moment?!

A year of professional challenges

2019 has been a year of many challenges for Taylor Swift. Her old label Big Machine was bought by the music manager Scooter Braun and due to commercial agreements, in that purchase-sale Braun also acquired Taylor’s music catalogue.

At the 2019 American Music Awards, the singer surpassed the 24 statuettes of the AMA's that Michael Jackson had achieved, becoming the artist with the most wins. According to Forbes, her fortune is estimated at $320 million.

In 2009, Demi Lovato began to take her first steps in music. Her album, Don't Forget, released in late 2008, was successfully received by fans. Months later, she released her second studio ablum Here we go Again, which debuted in the first position of the Billboard chart.

A complicated decade

Throughout the decade, Demi has had many ups and downs. Her career has grown stronger and stronger thanks to her albums and performances, but on the personal side, the singer has struggled with substance abuse and mental health problems.

In July 2018, the singer had an overdose but fortunately received help in time. After that episode, she entered a specialized center for recovery. She is now focused on her career and taking care of herself.

The singer, originally from Santa Barbara, California, was beginning to take her first steps in music at the beginning of the decade. In January 2009, she embarked on her first concert tour, Hello Katy Tour, in which she promoted her debut album One of the Boys. At the end of that year, the singer got engaged to Russell Brand during a vacation in India.

10 years have passed and Katy Perry's life is another. Since 2019, the singer has released three successful albums: Teenage Dream, Prism and Witness. In August 2012, the American singer became the second artist to have five songs from the same album at the top of the chart, after Michael Jackson. This recognition was given to the singer after her song Last Friday Night (TGIF) reached number one in the Hot 100 chart. Previously, California Gurls, Firework, Teenage Dream and ET had achieved it.

As for her personal life, it is known that months after her wedding with Rusell Brand, in October 2010, they eneded their relationship. But love knocked on her door again ... On February 14 of this year, Katy and actor Orlando Bloom announced their commitment. As for her philanthropic work, she has been appointed a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.

10 years ago, the Jonas Brothers were taking over the music industry by storm.
