Colombian singer Maluma joins the ranks of other singers who have tried their luck in the movie industry, having started filming movie Marry Me alongside Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson.
The reggaeton artist plays a man about to marry a pop star until everything goes wrong when she discovers he cheated on her with his personal assistant.
As well as Maluma, the following singers have already dipped their toes into the acting world, looking to the seventh art for new ways to attract and delight fans.
Christina Aguilera
Singer Christina Aguilera did a couple of cameos before landing her first big role in Burlesque (2010), where she played Ali, a small-town girl who finds love and success in a neo-burlesque club.
This project earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe in the Best Original Song category.
Chayanne
Puerto Rican singer Chayanne, made his movie debut with Linda Sara (1990); but it was Dance With Me (1998) that won him most acclaim.
He played Rafael, a Cuban who, after leaving the island and coming to live in New York City, meets Ruby, a school teacher played by Vanessa Williams.

Singer Nicky Jam tried his luck in the movie industry in 2017 with XXX: Return of Xander Cage, in which he played Lazarus.
He worked alongside good friend Vin Diesel who gave him advice to help make the most of his debut in the movie industry.
Ozuna
Reggaeton star Ozuna showed his romantic side last year during filming of the Dominican movie Qué León.
He played José Miguel, a young man from the slums who, thanks to a scholarship, is able to get into a prestigious university where he meets millionaire Nicole León (Clarissa Molina). He ends up falling in love with her, despite the fact that they belong to different social classes.
Marc Anthony
Renowned salsa artist Marc Anthony returns to the big screen in 2020 in The Heights after over a decade away from the industry.
In the Nineties he kept busy with several projects such as Natural Causes, Big Night, The Substitute, and Bringing Out The Dead, and is also remembered for his role in Man on Fire (2004).

Britney Spears has also dabbled in filmmaking with several cameos and dubbing. But she’s also starred in a number of movies.

Will Smith’s acting career started at the same time as his musical career. His first big role was The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
