Elyfer Torres’ other face as the lead role in 'Betty in NY'

The Mexican actress, Elyfer Torres, has completely shed the character that launched her to fame from Betty in NY.

She was seen in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where she was on holiday, before the Telemundo melodrama came to an end. In the photos posted by the actress, you can see her figure in all its glory.

A good example of this is the photo she posted on August 10th, where she can be seen wearing a bikini.

After graduating from Televisa’s Center for Artistic Education (CEA), she participated in many series such as El secreto de Selena, Nicky Jam, El Ganador, and La Piloto.

Afterwards, she was chosen to star in the newest version of Yo soy Betty la Fea, a Colombian telenovela classic.

Since then, Elyfer has spoken about the differences that this rehash would have in comparison to the original version.

"When people ask me what’s different about this version, I tend to say that everything is different. Twenty years have passed and our way of seeing the world has changed. Our minds are more open, aside from the fact that we have smartphones and social media now, and bullying is lived in a completely different way", the actress said according to the Mexican newspaper Milenio.

She also revealed that she wasn’t interested in watching previous versions of the show so as to not be influenced in any way.

"I didn’t want to watch any other versions so as to not contaminate the character and to avoid subconsciously repeating any of her behaviors. Without judging all others, I think this Betty is more organic—we’re not looking for an "ugly costume", we’re going for a more natural look".

In order to play the role, Torres claimed that she had to let her moustache and her sideburns grow out.

"I let my eyebrows grow and I didn’t use any hair treatment for a while, which led it to look natural, messy, and frizzy so that, when people saw me on TV, they would be able to tell that I’m a real person and not just an actress that’s playing the role of an unsightly girl".

She already left that character behind, assuring us that her experience with it was great. "This project has made me grow as a person because when I was in Mexico, I lived with my parents and, when I moved to Miami, I had to live by myself and so I became more of an adult. I also grew up a lot as an actress", she said in an interview with People Magazine.

She revealed that after seeing her success, she intends to study acting in New York in order to reinforce what she knows and to keep learning. In regards to her career as a singer, she did mention that she loves song writing, though she’s unsure as to whether she will pursue that career.

She confessed that, in regards to her acting future, she will still go to casting sessions, but that she’s leaning towards stories that talk about feminine empowerment, since she wants to do something different to Betty.

"I don’t know. I’d maybe like to play a villain or a policewoman. Something opposite to Betty'.
