12 fun facts about Maye Musk, genius Elon Musk's supermodel mom

Maye Musk was born in Regina, Sashatchewan, Canada. At age 3, she moved to South Africa with her family. At 15, she started modelling and she became Miss South Africa in 1969.

A year after becoming Miss South Africa, she married Errol Musk. Together, they had three children: Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca.

A couple of years later, Errol and Maye's marriage was finished and she went back to Canada. Despite becoming a full-time mother, she kept on studying and she specialised twice in the field of Nutrition and health.

As a single mother, she went through tough times. She raised her children with very low funds and, in an interview with the Guardian, she revealed that she rented an apartment in Toronto, where Elon slept on the couch. She spent three weeks cleaning it, and then she bought some $5 bedsheets. She finally bought some beds, then a computer, then some chairs---since one can always work on the floor. She cut her hair, wore $19 shoes and got on the walkway. "You don't need massages to be happy", she says.

Her son Elon Musk is the genius behind Tesla Inc., PayPal y SpaceX. Her son Kimbal is the main shareholder in his brother's companies and he owns The Kitchen Cafe, a chain of restaurants that feeds the whole Heartland. Tosca, the only girl in the family, is a movie producer and director, and the founder of Musk Entertainment.

"I've never had a summer body. I'm not being modest, it's just something I've learned as a model. My body is as good as the food I put in my mouth", Maye said for The Guardian on September 2018.

Seeing what the modelling industry is like, with all that pressure on her age, Maye still ensured us that no one has ever asked her to get a lift or Botox.

Maye has had a successful career; regardless, when compared to the fame achieved by her eldest son, Elon, she is sure that her career has launched even more---but that isn't a reason for her to quit the walkway. "I'll maybe start taking it easy at 96", the grandmother of 11 children said to The Guardian in 2018.

Maye Moved to Marina del Rey, California, in 2013 so she could be closer to her grandchildren. Elon has 6 kids, Kimbal has 3, and Tosca has 2.
