“I am truly a product of Hollywood inbreeding,” Carrie (pictured with mom Debbie) penned in her 2008 autobiography Wishful Drinking. “When two celebrities mate, someone like me is the result.” Photo: Dove/Evening Standard/Getty Images
The actress's father, Eddie, famously divorced her mother in 1959 to marry Debbie's close friend Elizabeth Taylor, whom Carrie's mom once served as a matron-of-honor. After Elizabeth's death in 2011, Carrie told E! News, "If my father had to divorce my mother for anyone—I'm so grateful that it was Elizabeth," adding "This was a remarkable woman who led her life to the fullest rather than complacently following one around." In 2016, the actress revealed that she and her co-star Harrison Ford (right) were involved in a three-month secret affair. "It was so intense," she told People magazine of the romance. "It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend." Photo: Lucasfilm
Carrie married Paul Simon in 1983, but divorced the musician a year later in 1984. Discussing her failed marriage with Rolling Stone in 2016 she admitted, "I'm not good at relationships. I'm not cooperative enough. I couldn't give him the peace that he needed," Carrie explained. "We both had very interesting fights. It's all a shame, because he and I were very good together in the ways that we were good. But like I said, I don't supply someone with a really peaceful home." Photo: Tom Wargacki/WireImage

Carrie (photographed with her beloved French bulldog Gary) suffered from mental illness, particularly bipolar disorder. She once said, "living with manic depression takes a tremendous amount of balls. ... At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of.” Photo: David M. Carrie, who is survived by her daughter and mother, admitted a month before her death that she did not fear death itself. "I fear dying," she told Rolling Stone. "Anything with pain associated with it, I don't like. I've been there for a couple of people when they were dying; it didn't look like fun. But if I was gonna do it, I'd want someone like me around. And I will be there!" Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage
