Jenna Ortega pulled off one of the most daring beauty trends: bleached eyebrows. The "Wednesday" star showed up at CinemaCon in Las Vegas looking almost unrecognizable, swapping her signature dark brows for a barely-there blonde look. And let's just say, it was a moment.
Ortega's newly bleached brows were a bold contrast to her dark hair, which she wore sleek and straight with an off-center part. She leaned into the edgy aesthetic with a dark smoky eye, bronzed cheeks, and glossy lips.
But the beauty transformation wasn't the only thing turning heads. Jenna Ortega wore a lavender blazer over a brown-and-purple button-down shirt, lilac shorts, a brown choker, and a thin brown belt. The whole vibe was playful, confident, and totally on-trend.
Why Was Jenna at CinemaCon?
Ortega hit CinemaCon to promote her upcoming movie, "Hurry Up Tomorrow," a psychological musical thriller directed by Trey Edward Shults. The film, produced by A24 and starring The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) and Barry Keoghan, is said to be a companion piece to Tesfaye's recent album.
As if that wasn't enough, Jenna introduced The Weeknd before he took the stage to perform two brand-new songs, "Cry for Me" and "Open Hearts," plus his hit "Blinding Lights."
The Bleached Brow Trend: Fashion or Fad?
Jenna is the latest celeb to take the plunge into the bleached brow trend, a look that's been dominating runways and social media since Paris Fashion Week 2022 when global Pinterest searches for "bleached eyebrows" shot up 150%.
Jamie Long, lead brow stylist at HD Brows, says bleaching brows isn't just for high-fashion editorials anymore. "Brow bleaching is something professionals can do to your brows to lift them a few shades lighter or completely eliminate the color to give that fashion-forward 'browless' look," Long explains.
But if you're not ready to go full alien-chic, there's a softer take. "For darker-haired women, a more wearable option is lightening brows just one or two shades. It gives you a taste of the trend without fully committing."
How to Fake Bleached Brows at Home
Want to test the look without committing to actual bleach? Benefit Cosmetics Global Brow Expert Jared Bailey has an easy, makeup-only trick:
What You'll Need:
- A full-coverage matte concealer with yellow/golden undertones
- A long-wearing, clear brow gel
- A micro-lining brow pencil
- A spoolie brush
How to Do It:
- Brush your brows upward with a clear brow gel to shape them.
- Before the gel dries, apply a small concealer to the back of your hand.
- Use the spoolie to comb the concealer through your brows, adding more for the desired effect.
- Define the brow perimeter with a neutral brow pencil shade for contrast and structure.
And just like that, you're giving Jenna Ortega energy—no bleach required.
