Los Angeles-based celebrity makeup artist Ash K Holm has built a reputation for crafting luminous, radiant skin for A-listers like Kim KardashianAriana Grande, and Camila Cabello. Her glamorous looks have made her a go-to expert for red carpets and high-profile events.

At a makeup masterclass attended by HOLA! USA and hosted by Vaseline in Sedona, Arizona, Holm revealed some of her best-kept beauty secrets for achieving glowing skin—using a product most of us already have at home: Vaseline Original Healing Jelly.

The Ultimate Hack for Defined, Hydrated Lips

One of Holm’s favorite tricks involves a unique way to create fuller, more hydrated lips. First, she suggests using a lip liner pencil in a shade close to your natural skin tone to outline the lower lip, emphasizing the cupid’s bow with a soft ‘V’ shape. Then, rather than overlining the entire lip, she recommends keeping the corners tight while adding subtle shading to create a natural, lifted effect.

Her next step is the game-changer: mixing a matte cream blush with the petroleum jelly. Using a pea-sized amount of each, she blends them on the back of her hand, creating a silky, hydrating balm. Dabbed onto the center of the lips with a fingertip or brush, this mixture gives a soft, dimensional glow while keeping lips nourished. “It turns the blush into a more balmy, hydrating texture, which is perfect for creating that natural, plump look,” she explains.

Holm also notes that this hack isn’t just for lips; mixing the petroleum jelly with a matte lipstick or cream blush can double as a dewy cheek tint. “Makeup is art, and we can bend the rules,” she says.

The Glow-Boosting Highlighter Trick

Holm also layers the All-Over Body Balm with a powder highlighter to take the glow to the next level. First, she lightly applies two swipes of the balm to the high points of the face—cheekbones, temples, and even the shoulders for a luminous effect. Then, using a small highlighter brush, she gently taps on the powder highlighter, which adheres seamlessly to the balm, intensifying the glow.

“You can do this on the face and body,” Holm shares. “It’s the perfect trick for a radiant red-carpet look or a night out.”

Hydrated, Groomed Brows—With a Twist

Another unexpected hack Holm swears by is swapping traditional brow gels for petroleum jelly and applying a small amount with a spoolie condition and shape brows while giving them a polished, lifted look. “It works just like a gel, but with added moisture,” she says. “Sometimes, overusing harsh brow gels can lead to patchiness, so this method gives your brows a break while keeping them groomed.”

Khloé Kardashian’s Go-To Routine for Oily Skin

During the session, Holm also shared some insights from working with Khloé Kardashian, whose naturally oily skin requires a specific technique to maintain a flawless finish. “When I do Khloé’s makeup, we always go in with long-wearing skin tints and pressed powders instead of cream contours,” Holm reveals.

She recommends using a toner as the only prep step for oily skin, skipping heavy moisturizers. For foundation, she suggests Anastasia Beverly Hills’ new medium-coverage formula, followed by a powder bronzer instead of cream products, to prevent makeup from breaking apart throughout the day. “For setting sprays, layering Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray with One/Size On ‘Til Dawn is a foolproof method,” she says. “This is what we do for Khloé, and it really locks everything in place.”

Making Fragrance Last Longer

As a final tip, Holm shared a little-known secret to enhance perfume's longevity: using petroleum jelly as a primer. The scent is locked in and amplified by applying a small amount of the All-Over Body Balm to pulse points before spritzing on fragrance. “It works like a primer for perfume, bringing out your natural pheromones,” she explains.

With her innovative yet simple hacks, Ash K Holm proves that glowing, red-carpet-worthy skin doesn’t require expensive products; sometimes, all it takes is a jar of petroleum jelly and a little creativity.

Happy mixing!
