Light coverage and freckles

Jenna Ortega’s hair and makeup artist, Tara Mcdonald, said that she wanted to stay true to the well-known character’s pale skin but wanted to make her a fresh and modern Wednesday to suit this generation. Tara revealed she used a sheer foundation to provide minimal coverage and let Jenna’s stunning freckles shine.

We aren’t all blessed with natural freckles like Jenna, so opting for the faux freckle look, which is reclaiming its trend with a 72.5% spike in Pinterest searches for fake freckles since October.

Jamie Long, the lead Stylist at HD Brows, shares how you can fake the look. “You can easily fake natural-looking freckles with a simple multi-purpose product, such as a brow pen. A super fine-tipped Pro Brow Pencil will do the trick - simply tap the pencil on the areas of your face that the sun would naturally hit, such as nose, cheeks, and forehead,” Long says.

“Then, lightly blend your freckles with your fingertips or a makeup sponge to soften them, making them look more natural,” the expert adds. “The key is to build up the pigment little by little, so tap the brush gently onto the skin until you’ve created the freckles of your dreams.”

Sculpted Cheeks

Makeup artist Tara Mcdonald used two powdered products to emphasize Jenna’s chiseled cheeks: the M.A.C. sculpting powders in the shades Sculpt and Shadowy.

The permanent makeup artist at K.B Pro, Karen Betts, reveals how to achieve this snatched look. “Your darker contouring powder should be gently brushed under your natural cheekbones to emphasize the hollows of your cheeks. Use an angled brush to apply the product in light, circular motions, around three shades darker than your natural skin tone. Create a half-moon shape downwards, rather than a stripe.”

Dark lip

McDonald revealed to M.A.C. Cosmetics‘ Executive Director of Global Trends, Cat Quinn, she used MAC’s Lip Pencil in Nightmoth, mixed in with Dr. PawPaw’s clear lip balm, to create Wednesday’s dark pout.

She would mix the two in a pot or on the back of her hand and then dab it on to create the perfect soft goth lip. “The idea was for her to look like she had naturally dark lips,” McDonald told Quinn, “I didn’t want it to look like she was wearing lipstick.” “One way to get this moody lip is to opt for lip blush, a natural treatment that will last. You can go for a couple of shades darker than your lip shade for a moodier, poutier look.”

Smokey shadow

McDonald revealed that she applied Ilia Mascara to get those full, dramatic lashes sported by Wednesday. Debbie Law, International Trainer at Nouveau Lashes, says: “Apply any enhancing mascara to the lashes, pulling the lashes upward and outward for a more voluminous look. If you’re looking to add a bit of glam to your smokey eye, opt for some strip lashes to accentuate the eyes and add some volume.”

“To get the Wednesday Addams dark smokey eye look, apply a warm brown across the eyelids and a darker brown or black underneath the eyes. Opt for a metallic grey liner or shadow on the lash line to finish the look.”

The products used by Mcdonald’s for the show were MAC pressed eyeshadow in Brown Script, MAC eyeshadow in Carbon, and MAC Glitch in the Matrix.
