“A sunburn is an inflammatory reaction to excess damaging ultraviolet radiation. It is a radiation burn,” shares board-certified dermatologist Dr. Shah.
If you or your loved one gets a sunburn this summer, follow the following steps below to help treat it:
Step 1: Take cool baths or showers to relieve pain and cool the area. Pat dry the skin, so it is not completely dry, and then apply moisturizer to soothe the skin and improve dryness.
Step 2: Look for a post-sun spray containing soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients like Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) or aloe vera.
