brings family and friends
together in London to celebrate his 60th birthday, before helping to bring
about a meeting between
THE QUEEN AND CAMILLA PARKER
BOWLES
There was a right royal turnout for King Constantine of Greeces 60th
birthday party, held in London, the city he has made his home. The exiled
monarchs relatives and friends from several of Europes reigning
families graced the intimate dinner held at Knightsbridge restaurant San
Lorenzo. There the party dined on a salad of Scottish lobster followed by
risotto and guinea fowl. Naturally, Greek wine was served with the meal.
As well as the Spanish royal family, Princess Caroline of Monaco and her
husband, Prince Ernst of Hanover turned up, King Harald of Norway and Claudia
Schiffer and her fiance Tim Jefferies
"Although the Duke of Edinburgh, Constantines first cousin once
removed, was the sole representative of the Windsors at his birthday party, the
next day Prince Charles hosted a lunch party at Highgrove in his honour, and
the King was happy to use this occasion to help bring about a much-needed
meeting between the two central women in Charles life. Although Camilla
and the Queen know each other, the monarch refused to meet her sons
companion from the time his marriage to Diana broke down, until this landmark
meeting ? and understandably so. The Queen is Supreme Governor of the Church of
England, which has strict laws regarding the remarriage of divorcees in church,
although there are plans to relax these in the near future.
Also present at the Highgrove meeting, described as relaxed and
friendly, were Charles sons, William and Harry. |
