Undeterred by the rain, Zara Phillips gave a riding display on Trigger, much to the delight of onlooking schoolchildren
Peter Phillips enjoys a night out with his girlfriend of three years, Elizabeth Irio

She was soaking wet and shivering with cold, but Zara Phillips didn’t let a heavy downpour deter her when she carried out her first charity engagement last week. At the Jeep National Riding Festival, just days before her 20th birthday, she launched a fundraising effort to give primary school pupils a chance to try horse riding for the first time.

Like her mother, who started working for good causes at the same age, Zara revealed that she would also like to follow Princess Anne into the world of eventing. “I’m doing a sports massage course part-time in Cardiff,” she explained. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do, but I do want to continue eventing.”

Meanwhile, her brother Peter Phillips has moved out of his mother’s home Gatcombe Park and bought a three-bedroom flat in London’s Belsize Park for a snip at £525,000. Eyebrows were immediately raised with the expectations that the 23-year-old’s American girlfriend, Elizabeth Iorio, would also move in. These hopes were soon dashed by the estate agent, who stated: “Peter plans to share with two chums.” Princess Anne’s son is currently doing work experience with the Jaguar grand prix team.

For the latest on the lives of Zara and Peter Phillips, the new issue of HELLO! is on sale now.
